What are the system requirements to run RightNow products?

Status of Windows Vista: The November '07 and later release of RightNow supports the Windows Vista operating system (Business, Enterprise and Ultimate editions). This includes the client-side modules related to the application. Using Vista with Outlook Integration is not yet supported and is expected in a future release.

Releases of RightNow prior to the November '07 release have not been approved for use with Vista.

Internet Explorer 7.0: RightNow, version 7.5.6 and later, are released for use with IE 7 on both the end-user pages and the administrative consoles. Version 7.5.5 is supported for use with IE7 on the end-user pages only. Versions prior to 7.5.5 are not supported for use with IE 7.

Internet Explorer 8.0: RightNow, releases November '08 and February '09 and later, are released for use with IE 8 on the end-user pages.

Note: RightNow applications can only support the x86 processor architecture. No other architecture is supported.

August '09 Workstation and End-User Specifications

End-user: An end-user is someone who can access only the end-user interface, such as the Support Home page, the Login and Answers pages, the Answers tab, and the My Stuff section of the application. End-users do not have a login for the administration pages.

Agent: Agents are users that can access any combination of the administration pages excluding the Administration and Analytics consoles. Agents can access the different records in RightNow, such as incidents, answers, opportunities, contacts, campaigns, and organizations.

Administrators: are users who can access the administration features (such as staff accounts and profiles) and/or the analytics consoles. These areas require the most RAM to function properly.

RightNow Technologies® has adopted a "last two releases" policy, which means that we test new versions of our software using the combinations of the last two releases of operating systems and databases. If a new release, such as Enterprise Linux OS 7.0 or Oracle 8.1.7 is announced during the product cycle, we do not incorporate it into the test cycle until our next product release of RightNow. There may be exceptions to testing two releases back when versions of our software require capabilities not supported in earlier platforms and databases.

We will not change supported platforms if a new release of a database or operating system becomes available during the release cycle. Additional platforms would be added for the next release of our products.

In addition, we do not provide technical support for platforms not listed in the attached document. Unsupported platforms introduce variables and unknowns into the product's operation and also compromise our ability to adequately support any issues that may arise during everyday operation.
